Actress Elizabeth Banks Goes After Donald Trump In DNC Speech

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Donald Trump received some attention at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night. He was the target of actress Elizabeth Banks, who went after Trump by mocking his entrance on the first night of the RNC. Banks' entrances included the hand clap and the rising podium that came along with Trump's appearance.

"You know, I don't usually say this about Donald Trump, but that was over the top. I confirmed it, just now," Banks said of the entrance.

The actress went straight for the punchlines as she went after the Republican nominee for president.

Banks took to pumping up the crowd as her speech went on. "Who's excited to pound a dozen cheesesteaks with me after this," Banks asked.

She then asked who in the room was ready to elect Hillary Clinton the next president.

Banks also compared Trump to her Hunger Games character, Effie Trinket. "A cruel, out of touch, reality TV star, who wears insane wigs while delivering long winded speeches to a violent dystopia," Banks said. "so, when I tuned into Cleveland last week, I was like 'hey, that's my act.'"

Banks then got serious, talking about the impact that the election will have on her and on her family. She also noted that through scholarships and financial aid, she was able to work her way through the University of Pennsylvania.

She said that she met her future husband at the school and attended their first date, a Bill Clinton rally. She raved about how Hillary Clinton stole the show.
