Day One Of DNC Featured Multiple Speakers, Multiple Issues

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The theme of the first day of the Democratic National Convention was "Putting Families First," with speakers touching on a wide range of topics.
Speakers touched on everything from immigration to drug addition to LGBT discrimination. And for a day that started with boos— the more the discussion turned to equality— the more applause.
"That's what families do. Families fight, we fight hard, but ultimately we come together," said first-time delegate Malcolm Kenyatta, who represents Philadelphia's second district.
He says he's focused on what impacts his district most.
"Nagging poverty, and moving on down the list to incarceration, and violence," said Kenyatta.
City Council President Darrell Clarke says it's the "issues" that will bring the party together.
"At the end of the day it's either Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump. That decision should not be in question," said Clarke.
