Philadelphia Doctor Charged With Providing Illegal Drugs To Woman

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Montgomery County have arrested a Philadelphia doctor on charges he provided illegal drugs to a woman he met through an online dating website.

Upper Merion police announced the arrest of anesthesiologist Graham Fogler on Wednesday.

Police say Fogler began a relationship with the female victim in 2014 after meeting her on the dating website, seekingarrangement.com.

Investigators say the relationship lasted a little more than a year, during which time the doctor rented hotel rooms at a Motel 6 in King of Prussia, where he delivered heroin, cocaine and other illegal drugs to the woman and several of her friends.

To help provide the woman with drugs, authorities say Fogler medically inserted intravenous ports in different parts of her body.

"Heroin, opioids and other narcotics are powerfully addicting. A physician becoming part of this growing epidemic is not only illegal, it's unconscionable," said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele. "The defendant was destroying a young woman by facilitating the use of illegal drugs, obtaining them for her and administering medical procedures without any medical necessity."

Police say their meetings to use drugs also included a home in Norristown and inside an apartment Fogler rented for the woman.

Fogler has been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including Acquisition of a Controlled Substance by Fraud, Unlawful Administration of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Deliver.
