The Grammy award-winning South African a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo gave some pointers to the teens and also performed.

The group became world-famous after singing in Paul Simon's 1986 Graceland album.

The Mann's artistic director Nolan Williams organized the The Ladysmith Black Mambazo master class.

"They preserve a special form of South African folk tradition and these young people are being exposed to that. We have students that have been working over the last several weeks to prepare songs and to immerse themselves into South African tradition and music."

The master class is part of the Mann's five-month, community festival, Firebird: Spirit Rising.
