PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In preparation for the Democratic National Convention, SEPTA will be closing the parking lot at the AT&T station at the end of their business day on Friday for the duration of the convention.

SEPTA's Carla Showell-Lee says the AT&T lot has 400 parking spaces, which will be off limits, as crews get the Wells Fargo Center, and the surrounding area, ready for an influx of conventioneers.

"That area is going to be needed in all the preparations that are going to be in that area in preparation for the DNC," Showell-Lee said.

However, she said parking will be available to commuters at the nearby Naval Hospital. The hospital is a 5-minute walk from AT&T station west on Pattison Avenue.

Showell-Lee said the lot is free and has 16-hundred parking places.

Philadelphia police say parking will also be banned on the Broad Street median between Washington and Packer Avenue during convention week.
