Local Gym Offers Philly Police Free Memberships
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local gym is offering some of "Philly's finest" a free membership good through 2016.
The Powerhouse Gym of Philadelphia in the Northeast started the promotion for all Philadelphia Police Officers on June 21. Damien Young, general manager of the facility says more than 50 officers have already taken advantage of the offer.
He says the special is being given to police because he feels they serve the city without getting the recognition they deserve and free gym access will also help get the officers into the shape needed to better protect and serve their citizens.
Next year Young says they're planning to offer the same free membership to Philadelphia Firefighters.
