Why Assembly Will Be Your New Summer Spot
By Michelle Mass
Food & Drink Beat the heat with a citrusy-sweet Aperol Spritz at new hot spot Assembly.
We love our outdoor sipping in Philly, but there have been precious few rooftop getaways worthy of bypassing our cherished sidewalk seats. Things are finally looking up, literally, with the opening of Assembly at The Logan. Step out of the elevator on the ninth floor of the hotel, where hosts armed with synchronized iPads usher you past glass doors to the open-air lounge. The design scheme—mirrored panels, illuminated main bar, sleek furnishings—is pure understated cool, but who's looking at the curvy couches with these views?
Bring a phone with a full charge to take photo (after photo) of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, stretching from City Hall to the Art Museum. Cocktails are prone to spark a little creativity, so be sure to have a drink from their Champagne-centric menu. "To us, it's all about the assembly," says Beverage Director Brandon Wise. "The better ingredients you use, the better the end product." And Assembly's finest end product for alfresco summer evenings is the fragrant Aperol Spritz, a citrusy mix of Prosecco, Aperol, and soda water served in a glass big enough to swim in. The Italians have enjoyed this sparkling aperitif for generations. You get to enjoy it all summer. Saluti!
