Walt Whitman Bridge Shut Down Heading Into Phila. Due To Vehicle Fire
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Just after 5:00 p.m., the westbound lanes of the Walt Whitman Bridge were closed heading into Philadelphia. The closure was the result of a vehicle fire.
The incident took place in the right lane.
According to the Delaware River Port Authority, one lane was getting by as of 5:31 p.m. Traffic traveling eastbound, to New Jersey, was crawling by, according to officials.
It was recommended that commuters expect travel delays and use the Ben Franklin Bridge as an alternative route.
All lanes reopened shortly after 6:00 p.m.
