Firefighters Stolen Plaque Replaced In Re-Dedication Ceremony
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In March of 2016, thieves stole a memorial plaque honoring a fallen Philadelphia firefighter. On Friday June 24th, the plaque was replaced.
The re-dedication ceremony was held at Engine 45. It honored firefighter James McGee.
McGee died in 1898 when a wall collapsed on him while he was battling a four-alarm blaze.
When the plaque honoring his life disappeared, firefighters reacted by resurrecting a new one in his honor.
The new plaque now has a home at Engine 45 on West York Street.
