Watch: ESPN 30 For 30 Short On 'We Are' Penn State
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Most Penn Staters do not know the historical significance of the slogan: 'We Are Penn State.'
In 1946, Penn State cancelled their game against Miami because the Hurricanes refused to play against Penn State's two black players. This team created the popular PSU slogan 'We Are,' which still lives strong today.
Two years later, Wallace Triplett -- one of the black players on the team -- scored the tying touchdown in the 1948 Cotton Bowl against SMU.
Four years after the horrific 2011 Jerry Sandusky scandal, artist Jonathan Cramer was motivated by this story and created a beautiful 'We Are' sculpture to help rebuild the image and inspiration on campus.
