South Jersey Rock Band Strikes Power Chords For Charity

PENNSAUKEN, NJ (CBS) -- Some young South Jersey rockers are striking power chords for charity, playing songs their parents and grandparents would love.

They're not old enough to drink. But they're old enough to rock. And rock with a purpose. Members of the student group One Vision are between 10 and 17 years old, and they're playing the demanding music of Queen.

Chris Gordon is their instructor at the New Jersey School of Music.

"I think this music is the perfect challenge for these guys and girls. And they rose to it!"

The band takes its name from the Queen song, "One Vision."

"The message of the song is exactly what these kids are all about. Coming together individually for one vision and one great cause."

One Vision's next gig is Saturday at 6 p.m. at the 45th Street Pub in Pennsauken.

Part of the evening's proceeds benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
