Turning 60 Just The Beginning For Some Pennsylvanians

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - May is national Older Americans Month, and the SeniorLAW Center in Philadelphia honored older Pennsylvanians who have passed their 60th birthday, and are just getting started.

The '6 over 60' awards highlight outstanding individuals who didn't allow their age to stop them from advocating for others.

"I always felt very committed to making the world a better place," says Judge Sandra Mazer Moss, one of the honorees.

She runs the Sheller Center for Social Justice and is a passionate advocate for elder justice, helping extend the retirement age of judges:

"My grandfather died at 102 and worked until he was 95 so I have a very high opinion of what older people can do."a

She, herself, is now retired from the bench.

Other honorees include attorney Nolan Atkinson -- whose grandfather was refused membership to the Pennsylvania Bar because he was black, and Chief Justice Ronald Castille -- a retired Pennsylvania Supreme Court judge who is an advocate for legal aid.
