Phillies Look For Second Straight Win In St. Louis

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies and Cardinals will play the third game in their four-game series in St. Louis tonight.

The teams have split the first two match-ups. After the Cardinals grabbed a 10-3 decision on Monday, the Phillies bounced back for a 1-0 win last night. Aaron Nola pitched seven shutout innings to improve to 2-2. He allowed just two hits. Nola has now pitched 20 consecutive scoreless innings.

Left-hander Adam Morgan will be on the mound tonight for the Phillies. This will be his second start since his recall from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to replace the injured Charlie Morton in the rotation. Morgan got a no-decision in his first start of the season last week against Cleveland, allowing three runs in five innings with seven strikeouts. This will be Morgan's second career appearance against St. Louis. He actually made his Major League debut against the Cardinals last year on June 21st. Morgan allowed just a run in 5 2/3 innings that game, picking up the win in a 9-2 Phillies victory.

St. Louis will counter on the mound with right-hander Mike Leake. He has struggled this season with an 0-3 record in five starts and a 5.83 ERA. He has allowed at least three earned runs in all of his starts this season. Leake is 2-3 in eight career starts against the Phils with a 6.00 ERA.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with CSNPhilly.com's Corey Seidman about the Phillies early success, the surprising Hector Neris and what to expect out of Morgan tonight.
