Daredevil Photographers Go To Dangerous Heights For Perfect Shot

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia from 2,000 feet is beautiful, but an emerging and dangerous trend is making pictures from on top of buildings more popular, thanks to social media.

Nick Canonica is a sophomore business major at Temple who loves getting to the highest height possible. He's taken hundreds of photographs from thousands of feet in the air. He posts them to Instagram under the name "@savephilly."

"I'm interested in changing people's perspectives on commonly looked at things," Canonica told Eyewitness News.

Canonica has been to some of the tallest buildings in Philadelphia, and he's just getting started. Others in the city do the same thing.

Is it legal?

We checked with Philadelphia Police and the short answer is it depends how photographers access their shooting location. Police told Eyewitness News in a statement that it's dangerous and photographers shouldn't do it.

Canonica says he's not trying to cause trouble. He just wants to take photographs to show off his city.

"Once you go and once you start seeing it from different angles, you just kind of want to keep doing more. Seeing what else is out there," he said.
