Centenarian Luncheon Held In Montgomery County

by Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A luncheon on Wednesday in Montgomery County will celebrate some pretty special people.

About 60 centenarians – people 100 years old or older -- will gather at Dock Woods retirement community for the 7th annual Montgomery County Centenarians Luncheon.

Acting director of aging and adult services Barbara O'Malley says there are two new members to the group this year. One, Andrella Lattimore who will turn 100 on September 10th:

"She's mother of five, grandmother of 11, great great grand mother of five, and a great great great grandmother of one," said O'Malley.

And Roger Wardlow who will celebrate his 100th birthday on December 13th.

"A lot of what I was involved in, I've forgotten about it. And maybe some of it is better forgotten too," said Wardlow.

Officials say there are about 300 centenarians in Montgomery county.
