Atlantic City Police Officer Involved In Collision With Another Vehicle

ATLANTIC CITY, Nj. (CBS) -- Atlantic City Police officer Michael Gunsser was involved in a collision with another vehicle around 3:31 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the Atlantic City Police Department, Gunsser was responding to a call when the accident took place.

Officials say the officer was using his emergency lights and siren.

After the collision, police say Gunsser's vehicle came to rest on the sidewalk on Virginia Avenue. Authorities say the other car wound up striking a traffic light pole and the pole itself came down on top of the vehicle.

The woman driving that car was removed from the vehicle and both her and Officer Gunsser were taken to the hospital.

Officials say both suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The incident is being looked into by the Atlantic City Police Department Accident Investigations Section and anyone with information on the accident is asked to call 609-347-5744.
