Public Memorial Planned For Ed Snider

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A public memorial service for late Flyers chairman Ed Snider is taking place Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center.
Doors open up to the public at 11:30 a.m. and the service is set to begin at 1 in the afternoon.
On this off day between Flyers playoff games, Ed Snider will be remembered.
Snider died last week at the age of 83. He was known for being the father of the Flyers who brought hockey to Philadelphia.
Today's service comes during a week where the Flyers, their fans especially, have been in the headlines.
It was Monday night, the first home game after Ed Snider's death, a losing effort, when some fans threw bracelets onto the ice. These were wristbands used in pregame festivities on a night filled with tributes to the late Flyers owner and chairman.
Last night the team avoided a playoff sweep after beating the Washington Capitals, tomorrow the Flyers hope to keep it going. But today, not about who wins and who loses. It's all about Ed.
