Montco Woman Who Burnt Down Police Officer's Home Gets 10-20 Years In Prison

By Jim Melwert

LOWER POTTSGROVE, Pa. (CBS) -- Judgement day for the Montgomery County woman convicted of burning down the Lower Pottsgrove home of a Limerick Township police detective who lived next door.

Detective Ernie Morris and his family were on vacation, in December 2014, when neighbor Donna Krupp lit their home on fire, destroying the house and killing the family pet. Prosecutors said at trial, Krupp blamed Morris for her son's ongoing legal problems.

In her allocution, Donna Krupp told the court her family doesn't deserve this, adding, since she's been in prison, her daughter had to postpone her wedding.

Judge Gary Silow sentenced the 53-year-old Krupp to 10-20 years in state prison saying her lack of remorse in unconscionable.

But Detective Morris says he's not surprised Krupp has yet to take responsibility:

"You know the anger starts getting there at this point, but it's sad, you just start feeling sad for her the person. It's got to be horrible to live inside that skin of hers."

Krupp's attorney, John Fioravanti told the judge he objected to what he called an excessive sentence, and says he will ask the judge to reconsider.
