Police: 78-Year-Old NJ Woman, The Victim Of A Parking Lot Carjacking

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ., (CBS) -- The Lawrence Township Police are investigating a carjacking which they say took place on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Shopping Center at 2495 Brunswick Pike.

Officials say a 78-year-old was the victim of an attack after she completed shopping in the area. Police say the victim said that after putting her groceries in the her car, she was approached by the suspect who officials say approached her as she sat in her vehicle.

Police say the suspect demanded the woman's keys. They add that she refused and the suspect grabbed her by her wrists and threw her from her vehicle causing injuries to her hands, wrists and knees.

Authorities say the suspect then got into her car and fled the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 6'0" - 6'1" with a large build. Officials say he is approximately 250 lbs and middle-aged. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a dark sweat shirt.
