Medical Marijuana Legislation Back On Radar In Harrisburg
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- Medical marijuana legislation is back on the agenda again in the state capitol. A bill could get to Governor Tom Wolf later this week -- but the path to the governor's desk is still unclear.
The House last month passed a Senate bill that would legalize medical marijuana in Pennsylvania, but the House amended the bill, sending it back to the Senate.
On Monday, the Senate Rules Committee made more amendments to the bill, described as largely technical in nature to improve implementation. It is still unclear whether the House will vote on a bill with further amendments, but Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman says the House and Senate are engaged in conversations about the medical marijuana bill.
"We think we're at a point where we have complete agreement," Corman said. "If for some reason there would be a problem with that, it still allows us options later in the week to still get this to the governor."
When asked about it later, Corman said he didn't want to discuss hypotheticals, but one option to get the medical marijuana bill to the governor this week would be for the Senate to withdraw its changes and pass the House version of the bill without further amendments.
