Flyers Look To Continue Playoff Push Tonight Vs. Caps

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It will be a big challenge for the Flyers tonight at the Center as they welcome the Washington Capitals to town.

Washington has an NHL-best 113 points this season. In fact, the Capitals have already clinched the President's Trophy for the NHL's best regular season record.

The Flyers have 87 points. That has them tied with Detroit for the final wildcard playoff spot in the East. But the Flyers hold the tiebreaker right now because they have two games in hand on the Red Wings. The Flyers have only played 75 games to this point, compared to 77 for Detroit.

As it stands right now, the Flyers and Capitals would meet in the first round of the playoffs. Washington has won two of three regular season meetings between the clubs. The lone Flyers win came in overtime back on January 27th, Flyers winning 4-3 in D.C.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer about tonight's match-up and the push for the playoffs.
