'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2' Actor Hails From Our Area

READING, Pa. (CBS) - A veteran local actor and cast member of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" -- which opens nationwide today -- has high hopes that the ethnic-oriented sequel will attract a big audience.

Gus Portokalos is the patriarch of the family from the popular romantic comedy "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" which hit theaters 14 years ago.

In real-life, he's Michael Constantine, who grew up just up the road from Philadelphia in Reading.

"I used to say: 'Gee, I hope this thing at least breaks even so they'll want to do a sequel so we could work together again' because we loved working with each other," he says.

The 88-year-old Constantine is excited about this weekend's opening:

"We loved it, we got along well, we joked and carried on on the set just the way we did the first time and it was wonderful."

He says there will be a wedding in the sequel, and if the audience likes this one…

"Then, possibly, there could even be a three."

The original made more than $240 million dollars at the box office.
