Jeffrey Lurie Seems Confused About Eagles' Direction

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jeffrey Lurie seems confused about the direction of his football team.

Lurie, the man who gave Chip Kelly complete control of his franchise after consecutive 10-6 seasons and one division title, just to fire him 15 games later, now believes his team is in position to win now. And in the coming years. And for the future.

Furthermore, after "general manager" (or whatever we're calling him these days) Howie Roseman gave out 36 million combined guaranteed dollars to two quarterbacks -- expected starter Sam Bradford and backup Chase Daniel -- Lurie says the Eagles will look to draft a signal caller every year going forward.

"We are still looking for a third quarterback," Lurie said at the NFL owners' meetings in Florida on Tuesday via NJ.com. "Like we used to do, each year or every year, we would try to draft a quarterback, and that will probably continue as long as there is quality throughout the draft."

The Eagles have not drafted a QB in the first-round since 1999, when they selected Donovan McNabb second overall under head coach Andy Reid. Since McNabb's departure, the Eagles have struggled to find a franchise quarterback, trying out many options (see: Mike Vick, Kevin Kolb, Nick Foles, and Mark Sanchez).

Lurie, Roseman, new head coach Doug Pederson, and the Eagles own pick No. 8 in the 2016 draft. Who the heck knows what they'll do.
