Gov. Wolf Still Reviewing Budget Legislation
By Tony Romeo
HARRISBURG (CBS) -- Governor Wolf says at the request of legislative Democratic leaders, he is holding off action for another day on budget legislation sent to him last week.
In December, Democratic Governor Tom Wolf partially signed and partially vetoed a budget that met with his disapproval. Last week, the Republican-controlled legislature sent Wolf a bill to address the parts of the budget that were nixed in December.
Even before the legislature voted, the governor released a statement promising a veto. But that veto hasn't happened yet, and Wolf said after meeting with legislative Democratic leaders Monday morning, he would wait at least one more day before taking action.
"I told them I would be happy to take a little more time to look at the bill and make sure that I'm solid ground for a veto. They said, 'could you hold that for a day?' I said 'sure,'" said Governor Wolf
After their meeting with the governor, the House and Senate Democratic leaders said they were confident they have the votes to sustain a veto by the governor in the event of an override attempt.
