LOVE Statue's New, Temporary Location Celebrated Over Lunch In Center City

By Mark Abrams

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia's iconic LOVE sculpture had some lunchtime company at its new, temporary location Wednesday.

A few folks braved the noontime winds and cool temperatures to come out and celebrate love at lunch in Dilworth Park.

They were even serenaded by Frank Sinatra imitator Steve Ritrovato, and treated to free chocolates being distributed by volunteers.

Paul Levy, President of the Center City Business District, says it was designed to let people know the LOVE sculpture is still here.

It was moved last week to Dilworth Park outside of City Hall for the time being while the city renovates LOVE Park.

"It's a great Philadelphia icon. We want to have a temporary home. It will be going back across the street when that park is renovated."

And, Levy says people have quickly re-discovered its location.

"We had two marriage proposals here on Sunday. The more the merrier at this point."

The city expects to complete renovations and move the sculpture back to Love Park by early next year.
