Guilty Plea From Montco Woman Who Allegedly Set Up Fund For Friend Fighting Cancer, Then Kept Money

By Jim Melwert

EAST NORRITON, Pa. (CBS) -- A guilty plea from a Montgomery County woman who was accused of setting up an online-fundraiser for a friend battling cancer, but then keeping the money for herself.

Traci Kratzer of East Norriton pleaded guilty to felony Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Funds Received.

She was accused of keeping more $8,000 raised on youcaring.com with a page titled "help Jay Henson beat cancer," but police say she kept the money for herself.

Investigators were tipped off to the case by the cancer patient's sister-in-law who said they never got all the money.

Kratzer will be sentenced at a later date, but for now she's ordered to pay the Henson family $8,261.68.

A legitimate fundraiser website was set up for the family at myjaybird.com and has collected more than $9,000.
