Philadelphia Residents Could Face Water Rate Hike

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia residents may have to pay more for water pretty soon.

The city's water department wants to increase rates by about 12 percent over the next two years.

That means the average customer's monthly bill would go up about $4 per month this July, and again next July.

Philadelphia residents can weigh in on the proposed hike starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Philadelphia Protestant Home.

The water rate board has not said when it will vote on the plan.
