New Platform Can Take Photos From Your Phone, Turn Them Into Art

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new e-commerce platform launching today allows users to create one of a kind wall decor from photos on social media accounts and your camera roll.

Wallsome is a Philadelphia-based company that specializes in large format printing and customizable wall decor.

Founder Dr. Keith Leaphart says the direct to consumer platform was created to help D-I-Y decorators transform their environment.

"Today we live in an Instagram kind of Facebook social media world and everyone is constantly taking photos of themselves, whether its a selfie, their family, their kids, we actually now allow you to upload those directly from your Instagram account, your Facebook account or your camera roll and create it into custom wall papering."

Users can also choose from an artwork collection in the Wallsome library.

"Our product is repositionable, non destructible to any wall surface so its great for people in apartments so you can take it right down and it wont damage anything."

There are plans to open a brick and mortar showroom in May to allow consumers to see the product up close and demo how to apply it.

Wallsome is a division of design and print firm Replica Creative.
