It's Time To Play Family Feud! Hundreds Audition In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Quite the cast of characters showed up to the Pennsylvania Convention Center this weekend, trying to earn a spot on the Family Feud.
Hundreds of families were chosen to compete for a coveted spot on the game show. Two families at a time would face off in a mock version of the show.
Casting director Sarah Dansby is part of the three-person team that sifted through 8,000 emails and picked the 700 or so families who would end up auditioning.
"I look for families who want to have fun," she tells CBS 3 Eyewitness News. "Lots of energy, lots of enthusiasm, who love each other, want to get on the show and have a good time and obviously win some money."
Each family had their own opinions as to why they deserved to be contestants.
"We're all active duty Philadelphia police ladies," says Gail Newsome-Middleton "and we serve and protect and we want to have a little fun. So what better way to do it then on Family Feud?"
Even the mayor of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania -- Rob Herzberger -- drove two hours with his family to audition.
"It's been my daughter's lifelong dream to be on Family Feud," he says.
Sunday was the last day to audition in Philadelphia.
The casting crew now moves on to Houston and Kansas City.
