Report: Sixers Owners Unwilling To Draft Kristaps Porzingis

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Apparently, the Philadelphia 76ers' ownership was sick of the risky, project, upside-type draft pick. And maybe general manager Sam Hinkie was forced upon Jahlil Okafor.

According to a New York Post story,

"Sources have indicated Philly ownership was gung-ho to take one of the Big 3 — Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor or D'Angelo Russell — because taking another unknown European project may not have sat well with a disenchanted fan base."

The Sixers ended up selecting Okafor with the No. 3 pick, while the New York Knicks took Porzingis at the four-slot.

Porzingis, 20, has contributed faster than most imagined during his rookie season -- averaging 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. Okafor, 20, is averaging 17.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game.
