Gas Prices Hit New Low In South Jersey

TURNERSVILLE, N.J. (CBS) --  Drivers in the Delaware Valley are seeing the lowest gas prices to hit the area in years. Drivers in Turnersville, New Jersey saw prices at $1.47 a gallon Monday night.

"I think it's awesome. I found it on an app I have on my phone, so I specifically drove here for it," Mary McDonald told Eyewitness News.

The reason is because the price of oil is dropping and fast. A barrel of oil was just under $30 a gallon on Friday. In June 2014, it was $107 a barrel.

"It's hard to say when we're going to see those prices really start to climb," AAA spokesman Jim Lardear told Eyewitness News.

Lardear is expecting to see new low gas price records. The average national price for a gallon of gas is $1.90, down from $3.68 in June 2014.
