3 Philly Entrepreneurs Make Forbes 30 Under 30 List

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Forbes Magazine has hosted its Under 30 Summit in Philadelphia for the past two years.

Now, three local entrepreneurs made the 2016 list of 30 innovators under the age of 30 -- in fields like social entrepreneurship, consumer tech energy entertainment and sports.

Morgan Snyder and Spencer Penn the prestigious list. They are cofounders of Sweet Bites, a cavity fighting chewing gum.

"Gum is really simple so in general, pure gum is just gum base and sweetener," Snyder says. "When it comes to our gum it's gum base and a sweetener called 'xylitol' and it's one gram of xylitol and that's the active ingredient that has been clinically proven to prevent cavities over time."

Their long-term goal, Penn says, is to change community oral health habits:

"The reality for people living in developing counties, especially children, is that there is pain and shame associated with tooth decay, the likes of which can't image and it actually affects their ability to concentrate in school and their long-term health. It's actually a visible mark of poverty that will often times prevent them from being able to move up in society."

Christopher Gray from "Scholly" is also on the list. He gained national attention with his scholarship-finder app last year after appearing on ABC's Shark Tank.
