Gloucester County College Offering Two New Programs To Help Ease Cost Of Education

GLASSBORO, NJ (CBS) –  Rowan College at Gloucester County announced two programs this week aimed at making college more affordable.

The "3 plus 1" program allows students at Rowan College in either Gloucester or Burlington counties to attend three years at county college and their last year at Rowan University while earning a degree from Rowan University.

That means getting a four year degree for about the cost of a new car.

"This degree would be a bachelor's degree at approximately $28,000," says Fred Keating, president of Rowan College at Gloucester County.

The second program at RCGC is called the Public Service Scholarship which allowed 20 selected students to get two years of free tuition while completing a year-round internship with Gloucester County Government.

Students can intern in the fields of finance, engineering, marketing, nursing, recreation, social services and technology.

"So you're really putting time in your field of choice and working with people that are practicing that profession," explains Keating.
