Eagles Fans Not Exactly Thrilled About Reported Hiring Of Doug Pederson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's all but been called official by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Doug Pederson will take Chip Kelly's role as head coach next season.

"We need somebody fresh," Said Frank McCullogh.

"I don't think it's a good idea. I never liked him," Nick Halstead

Fans at Chickie and Pete's had a lot to say about Pederson.

The former NFL quarterback is no stranger to the Birds.

He's been working as offensive line coach for the Kansas City Chiefs under Andy Reid since Reid left Philly.

He had a short stint as quarterback for the Eagles in 1999 as a back-up to Donovan McNabb.

"I always liked the Kansas City Chiefs and he worked under Andy Reid," Brian Richardson said.

"Not a good choice as a head couch. I'd rather see someone like Tom Coughlin who has experience in the division," Mark Halstead told Eyewitness News.

Newly fired NY Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was also in the running for the top spot but pulled his name out, leaving the Eagles to make the announcement that they've found their guy, but they won't say who.

And Chip Kelly made the news today, when it was announced that he is now the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, to which these loyal Eagle fans had some pretty tough criticism for the ex-head coach.

"Let them have him." "I don't think Chip is going to do well anywhere in the NFL." "Forget Chip Kelly. He ruined our team."
