3 Philly Athletes To Get Excited About

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Abysmal. Hopeless. Deplorable. Those are just three words to describe the current state of Philadelphia sports.

So what the heck do we have to get excited about? Better yet, who do we have to get excited about?

Here are three pro athletes playing in Philadelphia to help you get through this rough time in Philly sports.

Proceed with caution!

Embiid has been on this list since June 26th, 2014, the minute the 76ers selected him with the No. 3 overall pick. Unfortunately, the 7-foot, 250-pound center with a jump shot has yet to play in an NBA game, as he recovers from his second foot surgery in as many seasons.

Maybe he'll never play, but all reports on Embiid this year have been positive and my gosh -- if he ever does get on the court, wow. It ain't over 'til it's over!

2. J.P. Crawford

Crawford, 21, was the Phillies' 16th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. The 6',2", 185-pound shortstop is expected to join the big leagues at some point in 2016. MLB.com lists him as the 5th best prospect in all of baseball.

"Ghost," 22, is a young defenseman who Flyers fans have rallied around, hopeful he becomes the next big star in this city. "Ghost" has 7 goals -- 3 game winners -- and 9 assists in 23 games played this season, helping the team turn their season around.
