Powerball Pool Letdown For Employees At New Jersey Restaurant

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Imagine that you won the Powerball jackpot, only to find out later that it was a mistake.

That's exactly what happened to a group of restaurant workers in New Jersey.

Employees at Grissini Restaurant in Englewood Cliffs thought that their office pool ticket had matched all five white numbers and the red Powerball number from Saturday night's drawing. They thought they had hit the $950 million jackpot.

Cell phone video captured an employee reading the numbers aloud and then the group going crazy, celebrating what they believed was a life-changing windfall. In the middle of the pandemonium, a dishwasher at the restaurant even quit his job on the spot.

One big problem; they were looking at the numbers from the previous drawing on Wednesday.

The jubilation quickly turned to disappointment when they realized the mistake.

The restaurant joked about the incident on its Facebook page, comparing it to when Steve Harvey crowned the wrong winner at the Miss Universe Pageant.

The same group of workers has already bought tickets for tonight's drawing, now worth $1.5 billion.

Good luck!
