Patterson Sworn In As Philadelphia's Deputy Commissioner Of Patrol Operations

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The first week of January has been busy for the new police commissioner, pulling together his top brass cabinet to help lead the way under his new leadership. Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Patrol Operations was promoted.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross swore-in Chief Inspector Myron Patterson to Deputy Commissioner.
Commissioner Ross called him a no-nonsense guy, who is highly respected by his peers. The now Deputy Commissioner Patterson has been in the force 30 years, and says he's thrilled at the chance to make a change, especially taking on the challenge of working one-on-one with officers and the neighborhoods they serve.
"They're not separate, let's make that perfectly clear. So it's about that total mindset and accountability from the top, down to our frontline supervisors, instructing and mentoring our officers out there on patrol on a daily basis."
