Impossibly Thin Ultra HD TV Debuts At CES 2016

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (CBS) --  If your New Year's resolution is to slim down, your next television might have you beat.

KYW Tech Editor Ian Bush reports an impossibly thin screen is one of the TV innovations on display at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

"A never-before achieved 2.57 milimeters." What that translates to, says LG's David VanderWaal? "That makes this unit as thin as just four stacked credit cards."

So thin, the speaker and A/V connections serve as a sleek stand for the LG OLED G6.

"It can also fold cleanly behind the glass back for a seamless wall mount," VanderWaal said.

Several reviewers already naming it a top contender for best TV of the gadget show.

It'll be out in the first half of this year at 65" and 77" screen sizes starting under 10 grand.

Even the more budget-conscious brand, TCL, is getting in on that display tech, 'Dolby Vision HDR."

"In the next 60 days, TCL will be the first to ship 4K UHD sets powered by the Roku 4K platform," TCL's Chris Larson said.

Larson says their smart TVs include voice search, a lost remote finder, and a headphone jack on the remote for private TV listening.
