After National Search, Organization That Puts On Philadelphia Flower Show Has New President
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a six month national search, the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society announces its 37th president.
The appointment comes two months before the non-profit organization's prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show.
Bringing the experience of non-profits, government and large firms, 37-year-old Matt Rader of Center City is the PHS' new president. He takes over on January 11.
The MBA Wharton School grad was a management consultant at global consulting firm over the past four years.
Rader says his attraction to the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society is its track record on things like sustainability, neighborhood greening and food production, public space design and improvement.
"And I'm very excited about continuing to drive those programs forward as PHS maintains its legacy in the region. In terms of specific programs and accomplishments I want to pursue, those will unfold as I get familiar with the organization and its work and the team here at PHS."
Rader says he looks forward to the operations side of PHS' upcoming Philadelphia Flower Show in March and meeting all the volunteers and visitors it attracts.
Rader replaces Drew Becker who stepped down as PHS president earlier this year.
