Mummers Take Over Two Street Post- Parade
By David Spunt, Dan Wing
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The New Year's party continued late into the night Friday, as the Mummers took their strut from Center City back down to South Philadelphia.
When the sun went down, the famous Two Street Strut was underway.
"This is something you don't miss," says Mummer fan Mike.
For the first time, barricades lined the sidewalks of Two Street, keeping the crowds off the actual street itself, but that didn't stop people from having a good time.
"This party is a tornado of fun," says Chris.
"I think everybody should see this in person," adds Cheryl
"Got to do this at least once," suggests Danny.
"It's amazing," Cheryl says. "I think the time and the effort they put into it is just amazing."
And those who participated in the parade say the after party can be just as great
"Neighbors come out, everybody waves, says hello, "Mummer Jason Brinn says.
"It's a tradition that gets family and friends together," adds Anthony Iannacone. "I couldn't ask for anything more really.
