Divisions Working Round The Clock Ahead Of Mummers Parade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Mummers will take over Two Street after Friday's parade, but right now, all you'll find there are last-minute preparations.

As we enter crunch time, all the Mummers divisions continue getting ready.

Anthony Tenuto with the Fralinger String Band says every year seems to come down to the wire:

"You feel like you're so prepared and ahead of the game, but all of a sudden, in the last few days, your always coming down to the last-minute. Sort of like the creative rush"

He says these final hours especially are crucial:

"You have certain things that need to be completed. We have an amazing group of builders and decorators, they're pretty much living down at our garage."

Fralinger won first place a year ago, and Tenuto says they aren't interested in anything short of that this time around.

Across the street, Tom Kee with the Riverfront Mummers in the Wench Brigade says they have similar goals, and have been working 364 days to achieve that:

"January 2nd it starts so preparations are a long time, and we have different meetings each week, everybody is coming up with something. It takes a long time to get it done, but we get it done."

After all that effort, he says he can't wait to get things going:

"The first stroke of that drum of the band and off we go. That's the best part of it, everything's done, you're feeling relief and it's time to enjoy yourself."
