Montco DA Releases 2nd Children's Book About Bullies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  As Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman prepares to change roles from prosecutor to judge, she is releasing her second children's book – with the latest edition designed to help kids deal with bullies.

KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports.

The latest book, written by DA and common pleas court judge-elect Risa Ferman and children Jake and Jenna, is called "The Mouse Who Beat the Jungle Bullies", it brings back Wesley the Mouse for Ferman's first children's book.

"How he navigates challenges with different bullies, different sizes and shapes and how he is able to stand up to bullies and do what is right, both for himself and stand up for his friends."

Ferman's first book, "The Mouse Who Went Surfing Alone," dealt with Internet safety. The books are designed to be teaching tools for children.

"To get down on their level and talk about these topics that we all as parents know are very challenging," Ferman told KYW Newsradio.

The first book was a fundraiser for Mission Kids child advocacy center; this book is provided free of charge to every public elementary school in the county.
