Villanova Crushes Delaware 78-48

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Josh Hart posted a double-double, freshman Jalen Brunson added 13 points and No. 17 Villanova relied on stingy defense and timely 3-point shooting to defeat Delaware 78-48 on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats stumbled out of the gate but overcame an early 10-point deficit with a 34-8 run in just under 14 minutes to win going away. In that run, Delaware turned the ball over 10 times.

Hart started hot, making his first four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 70 percent (7-10) from the field.

Ryan Arcidiacono added 11 points and Phil Booth finished with 9 points and 7 assists filling in primarily for Kris Jenkins who left in the first half with a sprained knee and did not return. Overall, the Villanova bench outscored the Delaware bench 25-0.

Outside of Kory Holden (23 points) and Cazmon Hayes (14 points) the Blue Hens (5-5) couldn't generate much offense, becoming the eighth team this season to shoot less than 40 percent against the stifling Villanova defense.

Every game this season for Villanova (9-2) has been decided by double digits.

Villanova improved to 14-0 all-time against Delaware while the Blue Hens fell to 0-32 all-time against ranked opponents.
