Odell Beckham Jr. Suspended One Game For Josh Norman Incidents

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- UPDATE: 4:02 p.m., 12/21/15: The NFL announced on Monday afternoon that Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., would be suspended one game. Beckham racked up three personal foul penalties in the Giants loss to the Panthers.

The suspension will cause Beckham to miss the Giants next game, on the road against the Vikings.

Josh Norman and Odell Beckham Jr. got into heated physical altercations during Sunday's New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers game.

Norman, the 28-year-old Panthers CB, reportedly was swinging a black bat in warmups before the game "motioning towards" Beckham, the Giants star wide receiver.

"In pregame warmups, at least one Panthers official, and possibly more, carried black baseball bats on to the field and were motioning with them towards Odell Beckham Jr. while making comments to him, per a league source," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday.

According to Schefter's report, Beckham "felt threatened" and it shaped his mindset for the game.

According to CBSSports' Jason La Canfora, the Giants say Beckham was "threatened physically and called homophobic slurs."

During the game, Beckham let his emotions get the best of him. He targeted Norman with a vicious blow to the head in the third quarter. Beckham is reportedly "likely" to be suspended for one game for his hit on Norman.

The Panthers held on to beat the Giants 38-35 after squandering a 35-7 lead. Beckham caught the game-tying touchdown over Norman late in the game, but the undefeated Panthers kicked a field-goal to win as time expired.
