PA Supreme Court Justice To Go Before Court Of Judicial Discipline Involving 'Porngate' Scandal

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (CBS) -- A Pennsylvania Supreme Court justice is to have a hearing Monday on misconduct charges stemming the so-called 'porngate' scandal.

Justice J. Michael Eakin goes before the Court of Judicial Discipline on charges he violated the judicial code of conduct, the hearing to be held in Northampton County Court.

A 52-page complaint says the 67-year-old engaged in "conduct so extreme, that it brought the judicial office into disrepute."

Eakin could face suspension or removal from office for trading lewd, offensive, or insensitive emails with lawyers and other state officials on a state issued computer, from an email account under the name "John Smith".

Eakin says he welcomes an opportunity to present his version of the facts.

The hearing comes just days after allegations Kathleen Kane and her twin sister who also works in her office, are also caught in the web of these emails. A special prosecutor hired by the Attorney Generals office is reviewing hundreds emails.
