Kohl's Extends Hours To Remain Open From Now Until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Not that anyone probably needs a reminder, but there are only seven days until Christmas.

There are roughly 170 hours until Christmas Eve night, when most stores throw in the towel for the holidays.

But one retailer is staying open for every... single... one of them until then.

Kohl's has announced that it will remain open for 170-consecutive hours... starting this morning at 7am and wrapping up at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Kohl's says the move is to give last-minute shoppers more time to pick up gifts.

The store is also offering deep discounts during its marathon leading up to Christmas.

Experts say the move shows just how tough the holidays have been for retailers.

Many big name stores have extended holiday hours, and they aren't just competing with each other.

A lot of consumers go the online route and are counting on free-shipping promotions.

On Wednesday, Amazon.com was promoting its Prime service by telling shoppers they could sign up and get free, two-day shipping on orders placed up to Dec. 22 for delivery before Christmas.

The unseasonably warm temperatures have also affected holiday sales for many retailers in the area.
