New Valley Youth House CEO Aims To Raise Awareness About Its Programs

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  There is a new chief at the Valley Youth House.

Tom Harrington has been named as the new CEO of the area non-profit that works to provide a home for at-risk young people.

"I've learned a lot about what the needs are of children and how to provide them with programs and activities and support and to teach them the life skills they need to be successful and to build their character and their leadership skills," Harrington told KYW Newsradio.

Harrington has nearly 35 years experience working with disadvantaged, low-income urban youth.

He served from 2010-2013 at CEO of the Cradle of Liberty Council Boy Scouts.

He says part of his mission at Valley Youth House is to raise awareness about their programs.

"What I want to do is just get the word out to people that there is this amazing program, amazing group of volunteers and staff that are working with some of our most vulnerable kids," he said.
