Two Months Later, Still No Answers In Death Of South Jersey Toddler

By David Madden

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) -- Two months ago today, Haddon Township residents were shocked by the death of a 3-year-old boy whose body was found just a few blocks from his dad's apartment.

Since then, little has been said by those responsible for the investigation, leading to concerns on a number of fronts.

How Brendan Creato died is still a very open question. Attorney Richard Fuschino represents the boy's father and says he's talked to family and friends alike.

"They are curious about why there haven't been answers yet and there may be very, very good reasons for that" Fuschino told KYW Newsradio.

"What we're frustrated by is that we don't know why there haven't been any answers. We haven't been kept in the loop and that, to me, is very distressing."

Fuschino says the only contact he or his client have had with investigators in recent weeks came in a phone call he made to them.

"You have the father of a little boy who disappeared and then was found dead, and they don't think enough to give him or his lawyer a call to say 'Well, while we don't necessarily have an answer for you, we can rule this or that out'. That's really upsetting to me."

What is known about the case? The child was not sexually assaulted. No one broke into dad's apartment, where Brendan was last seen alive. And toxicology tests came back negative.

The Camden County Prosecutor's office issued a statement to KYW Newsradio. It reads in part,  "We understand the public and the press have many questions, but we cannot compromise the integrity of an active investigation by releasing additional information at this time."
