Jahlil Okafor And T.J. McConnell Continue To Impress Among NBA Rookies

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There isn't much to be excited about in terms of wins, but at least the Sixers have some young players worth keeping an eye on from night to night. Two of the team's rookies have stood out among the best in their class early on this season, and the latest NBA.com Rookie Ladder rankings support that.

T.J. McConnell and Jahlil Okafor both appear in the top five of the newest rankings. Both are holding their ground as Okafor (No. 2) and McConnell (No. 5) remain in the same spots they held in the last installment.

Okafor is the Sixers leading scorer averaging 19.2 points per game. That number paces all rookies as well. Okafor is also third among rookies in rebounds per game with 7.6 a night.

On Monday, the Sixers square off against the Timberwolves, meaning Okafor will go head-to-head with the top rookie according to the rankings, Karl-Anthony Towns.

Whichever big shines in this match up could wind up being in the top spot of the next rankings.

McConnell continues to play well above expectation. His solid ball-handling and ability to find the open man earned him a starting role and has his name listed among the games best floor generals.

McConnell's 6.9 assists is good for eighth in the NBA and first among his rookie peers.
