Widows Of Fallen Officers Come Together For Special Fundraiser

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- 14 Philadelphia Police officers have been killed in the last nine years. Now, some of their widows will come together tonight for a fundraiser called "Widows Stand Strong."

The event raises money for the FOP Survivors Fund, which is organized by the police union, to help support the families of fallen officers, like the family of John Pawlowski. His widow Kim was five months pregnant when Pawlowski was shot and killed seven years ago.

"I was out shopping for baby furniture, went to my mom's house for dinner. Went back to drive back to my house, and I was driving up the street, I got the phone call," Kim said.

With the support of other wives, the brothers in blue and the FOP she was able to get through it.

"It's a club that you never wanted to become a part of," Kim said.

Now, she will serve some brews to help raise money for all the families in need.

"All the fallen officer's families come out, and it's a really fun night, and I hope we have an even bigger crowd than we had last year," she said.

Maureen Faulkner, Judy Cassidy and Kim Pawlowski-McFillin will guest bartend.

All of the proceeds from "Widows Stand Strong," which includes a 50/50, tips, t-shirt sales and a $10 donation at the door will be going to the FOP Survivors Fund on behalf of The Irish Pub Children's Foundation (IPCF).
